Luigi’s Complex — things to check

Everything you asked for on the 11th is done. This is what it looks like, plus the questions only you can answer.

How to use this

Scroll through. Each thing has a number. When something needs your answer, tap Reply about #N and send a voice note — talking is quicker than typing, and the number tells us what you are talking about. You do not have to do it all at once.

8 of 62 answered — 54 still need you.

How it looks on a phone

You asked for it to stay put when you scroll, and for more contrast than the old cream bar. It does both now. A is black with white writing. B is white with black writing. The flower is orange in both.

Which do you prefer — A or B?

The writing now sits in a band above the picture instead of on top of it, so it is easy to read. A is the photo we use today. B and C are other options from your folder.

Is A the right photo, or would you rather have B or C? If you have a better one, send it over.

The five facts under the picture

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

These read: 3 Apartment Blocks · 38 Rooms · Pool & Restaurant · 50m from Beach · Family-run. The last one used to say British-owned, which we have taken off everywhere. The room count is now 38, from your email of 25 August.

Is “Family-run” the right fifth fact, or should it say something else? Now that we know you opened in 1995, “Since 1995” would sit well there — your call.

These four are made up, and they are labelled as samples so nobody is misled. Real ones would do far more work than these.

Can you send four or five real comments from guests, with their first name and town, and their permission to use them?

Food and opening times on the front page

Half settled 25 August. Both sets of times are confirmed — 8am to 4pm, and 6pm to 11.30pm — so the sample label has come off the opening hours. The cuisine now reads “Italian & British” everywhere, in your words. The menu dishes and prices stay labelled as samples until Clo sends the menu photograph.

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

It used to say Italian, British and Thai, with breakfast and lunch 8am–4pm and dinner 6pm–11.30pm, all labelled as a sample because we could not confirm it.

You wrote “Italian and British”. Has Thai come off the menu, or was it just missed in the typing? It matters, because the sample menu still lists a Thai green curry, and we do not want to advertise a dish you no longer cook.

Bird watching, river trips and cultural visits. We removed the line “expert guides available from the complex” because we could not confirm it.

Do you arrange guides or trips for guests? If so, we will put it back properly.

Rewritten as “we” and signed Julie & Luigi. We also took out a few things nobody could stand behind: that guests had been coming seven, eight and nine years running, that you had never spent a penny on advertising, and two named guests (Margaret and Graham) who appear to have been invented.

Read it once. What is wrong, and what would you add? Even a voice note of how you would tell it would be perfect.

There are ten articles. They are decent, but they were written for you rather than by you, so every one is labelled as a sample.

Do you want a blog at all? If yes, we would rather run a few real stories from the complex than ten general ones.

The restaurant page

Photos, opening times, and a description of the kitchen.
The “Book a Table via WhatsApp” button used to point at the restaurant number, +220 710 2102. Nothing told us that number is on WhatsApp, so it now goes to reception like every other WhatsApp button on the site.

Anything here that is out of date? Is +220 710 2102 on WhatsApp — should table bookings go there instead? And a daytime photo of the terrace with food on the table would lift this page more than anything else.

Rebuilt this week. 44 photographs, all from the folder you sent, sorted into the pool, the restaurant, the gardens, the entrance, the animals, the cat café, the beach, Anna’s, and one section for the rest. They are sorted by what you called the files — nothing is placed by us guessing what a picture shows. Clicking one opens it full size.

Any photo in here you would rather we did not use? Is anything in the wrong section? And is anything missing that guests always ask about — a video, for instance? We have no films of the complex at all.

Enquiring about a stay — the booking page, rebuilt

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

This page used to offer a “Studio, One-Bedroom and Two-Bedroom” in “Block A, B and C” at £35, £50 and £70 — none of which exist — and a Proceed to Payment button under “Secure payment via Stripe”, which did nothing but send an email. It also promised an answer “within 24 hours” and listed booking terms nobody had confirmed with you.
It is now an enquiry page and says so. A guest picks their dates, how many are coming and a room if they have a preference, and it arrives with you on WhatsApp as one line. Nothing is charged and nothing is stored. The same form sits under the room cards on each block page, and every room’s Enquire button fills its own number in for them.

Is that how you want enquiries to reach you — WhatsApp, with email as the fallback? And are the four steps right?

How many rooms in each block

Settled 25 August. You told us the total is 38, and that the first digit of a room number is its block. Block 2 gains 26A, so the three blocks are 12, 13 and 13. The site says 38 everywhere now — the five facts on the front page, the block pages, the room list, and the hidden text search engines read.

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

The site used to say Block 1 had 14 rooms and Block 2 had 10. Counting the rooms actually listed on each block page gave Block 1 = 12, Block 2 = 12, Block 3 = 13.

Nothing needed — answered.

#5 Done

Some room numbers are missing

Settled 25 August. The gaps are deliberate: 7, 8, 9 and 13 to 16 do not exist, and they are not missing rooms. 26A does exist, and it now has its own card in Block 2, paired with 26B the same way 21A pairs with 21B. Both are on the first floor. We have not invented a room type for 26A — its card says the details are being confirmed, and it has no photographs yet. See item D12.

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

Rooms 7, 8, 9, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 26A were not listed anywhere on the site.

Nothing needed — answered.

The article about British-run hotels

Retired 17 Aug: the article is off the blog and out of the menus. Nothing links to it any more.

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

You told us to drop “British-owned”, and one whole article was built around it. We have taken it off the site.

Nothing needed — just so you know it has gone.

The welcome words — how long have you been open?

Settled 25 August. You opened in 1995. The welcome words now open with “Since 1995, we’ve welcomed…”, and Our Story carries the year as a plain fact. We have not written anything else about how it began — if you would like that story told, send it and we will write it.

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

This used to say “for over a decade”, then “for many years”, because nobody could tell us where the decade came from.

Nothing needed — answered.

#10 Done

Your name on the booking button, and which town

Settled 25 August, both halves. The footer button on all 29 pages now reads “Message us on WhatsApp”. And it is Kotu — the site now says Kotu, and “on Kotu Beach”, in its titles, its front-page heading, its address and the hidden text search engines read. Your address reads Palma Rima Road, Kotu on the contact page, in the footer and in the site’s machine-readable listing. Kololi still appears in the area guide, where it is the name of the neighbouring destination rather than your address.

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

The footer of every page used to say “Message Julie on WhatsApp”, and the site said Kololi throughout while your tourism brochure said Kotu.

Nothing needed — answered.

The reviews page

Settled 25 August. Your TripAdvisor page is now linked, and the button is live on the reviews page. We checked the page ourselves before switching it on, twice over: it is the right property, and it shows 4.8 out of 5 from 309 reviews. The front page and the reviews page now say “Rated 4.8/5 from 300+ guest reviews on TripAdvisor” — your real rating, with the review count rounded down, so it can never claim more than you have. That is the strongest single piece of proof on the whole site. Every future build re-checks it and refuses to publish if the site would be overstating, so this line can never quietly go out of date. We have not copied any review text across; the made-up quotes stay labelled as samples until D3 gives us real ones.

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

Same as item 8 — the quotes are all samples, all labelled. The TripAdvisor button was hidden because we had no real link.

Nothing needed — answered.

The map on its own, bigger:

The map of the complex with our proposed labels

The old map was drawn from imagination and was not the right shape. This one is built on your own aerial photo, with the buildings outlined. We have labelled Block 3 at the back as garden view, no pool view, exactly as you said. Block 1 and Block 2 have a “?” because we are guessing which building is which, and two buildings we could not name at all.

Which building is Block 1 and which is Block 2? And what are the two buildings marked “?”? Marking up a photo with your finger and sending it back would be ideal.

Currently described as: “Two deluxe double rooms on the ground floor, facing the pool. Step outside and you are right by the water. Premium furnishings and a generous layout make these rooms popular with couples.”
1 photo(s) are now on the site. A is the one shown first.
This card covers 27 and 28, but the photos we have are from just one of them.

Is A the right photo to lead with, or is another letter better? Is any photo here not this room? Are 27 and 28 really the same, or should they be listed separately? We only have 1 photo(s) of this room — could someone send 3–4 more (room, bed, bathroom, view)? And is the description right — the view, the floor, whether it is quiet or lively?

Things we need from you

No screenshots for these — they are the things that are holding the site back.

#D1 Needs your eye

Photographs of the rooms

Mostly solved. We found your photo folder and put 147 photographs onto 27 of the 28 room cards. Six rooms have only one or two — 2, 5, 11, 21B/22B, 27/28 and 34 — and Room 39 has none at all.

Could someone walk round with a phone and take 3–4 of Room 39, and a couple more of 2, 5, 11, 21B, 27 and 34? Landscape, curtains open, lights on.

The original logo file

We can now show the flower in orange, but we are working from a small 294×106 picture. Anything bigger goes blurry.

Do you have the original logo file from whoever designed it? Any file ending .ai, .eps, .svg or .pdf.

Real guest reviews

Every review on the site is written by us and labelled as a sample.

#D4 Waiting on you

Real room prices

Clo is sending. One thing is already settled from your email of 25 August: your pricing is flat all year, so we will show one price per room and no seasonal table. That is recorded in the room data now, so whoever builds the price list cannot get it wrong.

Every price on the site is invented and labelled as a sample.

Nothing more from you for now — Clo is sending the price list.

Is this list of rooms right?

Redrawn 27 August with 26A on it, and with 26B corrected to the first floor. This is the version to mark up.

Is this list of rooms right?

This is every room the site currently lists, with its type, floor and view. It is the backbone of the whole accommodation section.

Mark anything that is wrong — wrong type, wrong floor, wrong view, or a room that should not be there.

#D7 Needs your eye

Email address, and which town

Half settled 25 August. The town is Kotu — applied across the site, see item 10. The email address is still unconfirmed, and every enquiry form on the site sends to it.

The site used to say Kololi throughout while your tourism brochure said Kotu. It also uses info@luigis.gm on every page.

Just the email now: is info@luigis.gm real, and does someone actually read it? If enquiries should go somewhere else, tell us where.

Taking payment online

Guests can now enquire properly — see item 57. They still cannot pay, and the site says nothing about cards or online payment anywhere. The space for it is built and switched off.

Do you want to take deposits online? If you do, we need a Stripe account in your name — Rhod will walk you through it.

Your real booking terms

Mostly settled 25 August. Your real terms are now on the booking page, in your words: a 20% deposit secures the booking; in high season, November to April, the balance is due six weeks before arrival; in low season the balance is paid on arrival. The old invented check-in times and cancellation policy have not been put back — the page says we will confirm those with the booking until you tell us the real ones.

The booking page once listed a 20% deposit, the balance due 6 weeks before arrival, check-in from 2pm and out by noon, transfers at about £20 a head, and a cancellation policy. None of it had come from you, so all of it was taken off rather than left there as a promise we could not keep.

Two things left. What time can guests check in, and what time must they be out? And what happens if someone cancels — do they lose the deposit, is there a cut-off date, do you ever move a booking to another week instead? Plain sentences are perfect; we will write them up.

Preno — showing availability on the site

Clo is sending. The hidden “Check availability” section is built and waiting; it switches on the moment the code arrives.

You mentioned Preno. If it can show a calendar on the website, the page is ready for it: there is a hidden “Check availability” section that appears the moment we have the code. Until then nothing on the site suggests we can show live availability.

Nothing more from you for now — Clo is sending the embed code.

What sort of room is 26A?

Open the live page ↗

How it looks on a phone

26A now has its own card in Block 2, because you told us it exists and that it is on the first floor, paired with 26B. But we do not know what it is, and we have refused to guess — the card currently says its details are being confirmed, and it has no photographs. It is the only room on the site in that state, and a guest reading the page can see it.

What is 26A — a standard room, a studio, a one-bed apartment? What does it look out over, and does it have a balcony? Photographs are already on Clo’s list; it is the description we need from you.

The site currently shows two different price lists

Half settled this week. The “Block A / B / C” list is gone — it described a property that does not exist. Only the per-room prices on the block pages remain, still labelled as samples until D4.

The booking page offers “Block A, B and C” at £35, £50 and £70. The block pages offer “Block 1, 2 and 3” at £30–£115. A guest who looks at both sees the site disagree with itself. We have labelled both as samples rather than pick a winner.

Which naming is right — numbers or letters? The real prices from D4 will settle the rest.

#D9 Done

How quickly do you usually reply to enquiries?

Settled 25 August. Every enquiry form now says “We reply personally — usually the same day” — on the booking page and on all three block pages. It is your sentence, not ours, and it is a promise you already keep.

The booking page used to promise an answer “within 24 hours”, which nobody could account for, so it was softened to just saying we come back to you personally.

Nothing needed — answered.
